Anne Chalk was elected as in Independent councillor for Shoeburness ward in May 2011. 
Together with Independent councillor Mike Assenheim she sits on a range of committees, fighting to raise the concerns of the residents she represents.
As one of 9 other Independent councillors across the borough, she is strongly opposed to party politics in local government and believes that all councillors should be free to vote for the wishes of the electorate and not be forced to tow a party line and vote according to the dictates of a leader.
