Beach Huts for East Beach?
A proposal to build 20 Beach Huts on the south end of the beach has been put forward by Cllr Roger Hadley. 
The plan is to sell the huts and and raise money for the cash strapped council. Many local residents have raised objections to the plan and the lack of public consultation with residents of George Street and Rampart Terrace who will be most affected by this development. Some people see this as part of the continued commercialisation of East Beach and the exploitation of what the ruling Conservative Group call "their assets". Others feel that this is just the beginning and that it won't be long before Beach Huts spread all the way across the beach, spoiling the natural beauty of the area.
